What is an ANPDWA Board Director?

A Board Director is a member of the affiliate who serves on the ANPDWA Board. The board and its directors' duties and responsibilities include supervising affiliate activities to include financial accountability, and serving the interests of the ANPDWA member base.

Each Board Director has voting privileges on any recommendations brought before the Board with the exception of the immediate past President.

Board directors must maintain membership in ANPD national and ANPDWA while serving.

How many hours will I need to work as a Board Director?

As this is a volunteer position, The affiliate makes every attempt to minimize the burden of work by utilizing technology and web conferencing platforms and keeping meeting to those only necessary to achieve affiliate work. The number of hours of commitment may increase around certain times, such as preparing for affiliate activities at the ANPD national conventions, and preparation before webinar presentations.

On average the Directors report spending 4 - 5 hours per month on affiliate activities.

Can I nominate myself for a Director position?

Yes!  Self nomination reflects a passion for the profession and a desire to contribute as an NPD practitioner advocate.
You may also nominate someone who you feel may contribute to the board, just be sure to let them know!

To be eligible for nomination, you must be an active current member of ANPD National & the ANPDWA affiliate.

How long does a Board Director serve?

All elected Board Directors serve a term of two years, with the exception of the Vice-president who serves three years: one as vice president, one as president and one as immediate past president

What are the benefits of serving as a Board Director?

Apart from working with a great team of NPD Practitioners?..😁

If you have never served in a organizational position, you gain experience in agenda setting, decision making, and activities supervision. In addition:

You will experience state wide networking with fellow educators and NPD practitioners to share ideas and information

You will have the opportunity to gain skills in team work, affiliate work, presentation skills, social media and marketing skills
